Detroit Rookie QB Makes Thanksgiving Tilt
Updated November 26, 2009
Apparently Detroit Lions QB Matt Stafford is good enough to play on Thanksgiving after all.
Stafford had a great game last Sunday vs. Cleveland throwing for 422 yards with 5 TDs, including the winning major with no time on the clock.
Unfortunately, Stafford threw the game-winning TD with an injured shoulder and while the Detroit News reported that it was unlikely he would play against Green Bay on Thanksgiving, he is indeed behind center and the Lions are down 20-7 through three quarters.
Stafford has a “a sprained AC joint in his left (non-throwing) shoulder” but the DN also says that there is “no significant damage.”
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said that his rookie QB was sore and if the pain didn’t subside, Daunte Culpepper would start in Stafford’s place.
The Lions were 11.5-point home ‘dogs against the Packers.
