Roethlisberger Out, Dennis Dixon In

Updated November 28, 2009

Will Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger play against the Baltimore Ravens this weekend?

“Don’t Count On It,” says our Magic 8-Ball–a line for the game has yet to be released.

Roethlisberger suffered a concussion last week and Pittsburgh’s medical staff decided against his starting, reports ESPN.

That means third-string QB Dennis Dixon is the No. 1 and QB Tyler Palko, who will be elevated from the practice squad, is the backup.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported earlier that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expected Big Ben to play and Roethlisberger even took snaps with the first-team offense at practice during the week.

Pittsburgh played the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday and with the game knotted at 24 apiece in OT, Roethlisberger took a knee to the head and was taken out of the game, replaced by understudy Charlie Batch.

The Steelers ended up losing 27-24 and failed to cover as 12-point road faves–the Total was set at 39.5 and went Over.

If that wasn’t enough, Batch suffered a wrist injury in relief and required surgery, out four to six weeks.
