2008 Heisman Winner Out For Season
Updated October 26, 2009
It hasn’t been the best of seasons for the Oklahoma Sooners, who were runners-up in the BCS championship game back in January.
With a record of 4-3, the team will miss out on the BCS title game and 2008 Heisman Trophy-winning QB Sam Bradford, who already missed the early part of the season due to a shoulder injury, will undergo season-ending surgery according to an ESPN report.
Bradford will have the surgery in Birmingham, Alabama on Wednesday and will not return to Oklahoma, foregoing his senior year for the NFL draft.
In the 2009 Red River Rivalry game, Bradford re-injured his shoulder and the Sooners lost 16-13 to the Texas Longhorns–Oklahoma was a 3-point underdog.
Landry Jones has started at QB in place of Bradford and the Sooners play a game against Kansas State this week.
