Mumbai come into this match in excellent form having won five of their last six matches and they’re up to second in the points table. A win today will see them go level on points with the Delhi Daredevils, but they have not played well at home this season as they have lost four of their seven matches played so far. They will be confident following their recent fine run and having won two of their last three matches at home this will aid their confidence levels also, however they could be without talismanic player Sachin Tendulkar for the match. Will this affect them?

The Knight Riders will hope so and they’ll want to get back to winning ways after losing their last two matches. Before these defeats to the Chennai Super Kings and against today’s opponents, they had won six matches and one match was abandoned without a ball being bowled. They collected 13 of their 17 points in that time and they will now be after revenge after Mumbai ended their winning run thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 109 not out score. Can they gain their revenge?

Mumbai have had their fair share of on-field issues this season with several players being fined throughout the season so far, while Kolkata have been very reliant on Gautam Gambhir to claim their runs. He has stepped up to the plate this season and he’s top scored in four of his last six matches, including a winner for us recently against the Super Kings, and I feel that he’ll do so again today.

Delhi Daredevils to win the match – 1.57

Kings XI Punjab to win the match – 2.53

The Daredevils are having a fine season so far as they’ve won nine of their 13 matches, but two of their four defeats have come in their last three games. Those defeats came against sides in the top four of the points table and they were well beaten by both Kolkata and Chennai with the Knight Riders taking a six wicket victory and the Super Kings defeated them by nine wickets. Despite these recent setbacks they still top the table and with two of their final three games coming against Punjab they know that a win today will be a big psychological boost and will seriously aid their chances of taking the top berth in the playoffs.

However, Punjab have been in excellent form on the road and they’ve won all of their last five away games. They have finally settled on a winning line-up and they’ve won both of their last two games and have four wins in their last five games. They sit seventh in the points table at this time, but can jump to fifth with a win today, and they realistically need to win all three remaining games if they are to make the playoffs. They play as a better team than Delhi’s individuals, but can they upset the odds to take a sixth straight away win?

This game is the first meeting of these two sides this season and I feel that the odds are too long on Punjab to win this match as they’ve lost just one of their last four and are so good on the road. They will be confident of victory and with Delhi having lost two of their last three games confidence may be an issue for them. I like the away win here.

Second placed Kolkata take on fourth placed Chennai and with the Super Kings having won three of their last four matches, including beating top of the table Delhi, they will be confident of victory. Kolkata Knight Riders to win the match – 2.00

Chennai Super Kings to win the match – 1.88

The last game for the Knight Riders was a bit of a shake up for them as they had not lost a match in seven going into their clash with the Mumbai Indians and they fell to a 27 run defeat. Kolkata had let complacency slip into their game against Mumbai and this saw them defeated after subpar batting and bowling performances. That game will have given them a wakeup call and victory in this match will almost assure them of a playoff spot, so will we see a return to their recent outstanding form?

Chennai will hope not as they are in very good form themselves with three wins in their four games since being defeated by the Knight Riders two weeks ago. The only game that they have lost in that time was as a result of conceding 14 runs in the last three balls of the match against the Mumbai Indians, but they bounced back with two impressive wins after this. The Rajasthan Royals were beaten were beaten by four wickets with two overs remaining before the league leaders, the Delhi Daredevils, were thumped by nine wickets with more than four overs left in the match. Chennai will show no fear in this match, but can they win and throw themselves back into playoff contention?

With both of these sides in such excellent form this game promises to be a fantastic spectacle and it’ll go right down to the wire. The game could go either way and I am not confident of either side taking the victory in this match, so my bets are on the top scoring batsmen for the Knight Riders. Gautam Gambhir, the Knight Rider captain, has top scored for Kolkata in three of their last five matches and has 248 runs in those matches so he is my pick for this match.

This is it, the final day of the 2011/12 Premier League season and the two title contenders – Manchester United and Manchester City – are separated by goal difference, with City leading their more illustrious city rivals. Can City keep their nerves and win their first top division title in 44 years or will Alex Ferguson get the last laugh of the season? Sunderland v Manchester United: 7.60 – 4.85 – 1.46

The last month of the season has not been good to Manchester as pre-kick off against Wigan on April 11^th they were eight points clear of Manchester City, but losing that game to Wigan as well as dropping two points at home to Everton to leave them just a three point gap at the top of the table with a game against Man City to go.

United’s game plan away at City was to defend and take a draw, or hopefully a 1-0 win, but with City scoring in injury time at the end of the first half they could not get into the next gear and they were defeated by a goal to slip to second place on goal difference. They now need to win this match and hope City do not take all three points or win by eight more goals than City do if they beat QPR to take the title. Can they do it?

They should easily win this match as Sunderland come into the game without a win in seven Premier League games, drawing five and losing two, and with United knowing they must win, as well as having been in this type of position before, they should easily win the match. I am backing United to beat Sunderland by at least two goals today.

Sunderland v Manchester United Bet: Manchester United -1 @ 2.16.

Manchester City v QPR: 1.07 – 11.00 – 23.00

City have closed the eight point gap at the top of the Premier League within the last month with some fine performance as they have taken victory in each of their five games in this timeframe. However, things are not as clear as they seem as while they were seemingly out of the title race they scored ten goals as they defeated West Brom and Norwich, but looked much more cautious with their wins over Wolves and Newcastle. They performed well against Manchester United, but that was due to United sitting back in an attempt to take a draw and pretty much settle the title race.

They have appeared slightly nervous when the pressure is on in the title race and this match the pressure will be cranked up to the max, especially if Manchester United get an early goal against Sunderland, and with QPR needing a point in this match to ensure their safety in the Premier League for a second season.

QPR have been on an alternating run of win one, lose one for their last ten matches but have taken just two points in their last 12 away matches, with draws against Swansea and Aston Villa. With City having won 17 and drawn one of their 18 home Premier League matches this season, the writing looks on the wall for the title and for QPR’s stay in the Premier League (assuming that Bolton beat Stoke). However, I feel that the pressure will affect both sides in this match and will cause a possible shock upset, but I am not confident of QPR getting something from this game either. This game could easily finish in any of the three possible outcomes, but I see City labouring under the pressure and if they win that they will do so but just a single goal at maximum and I’m backing QPR with a two goal head start on the handicap market.

Chennai Super Kings to win the match – 1.92

The Super Kings come into this match in decent form as they have won two of their last three matches and were unlucky to taste defeat in their other game against the Mumbai Indians. They conceded 14 runs against Mumbai in the final three balls of the match and were beaten by two wickets. Despite this good form of late, the Super Kings have been struggling with their batting line-up this season and captain MS Dhoni has not been able to settle on a definite batting order as all of the batsmen have been very hit and miss so far. Can they put the inconsistent performances behind them against the points table leaders?

The Daredevils are in cruise control at this point of the season as they have won nine of their 12 games so far and they sit comfortably at the top of the table with the Kolkata Knight Riders, with both sides looking assured of a playoff spot. They have won five of their last six matches, with only the Knight Riders having spotted Delhi from winning of late. They have won five of their six matches away from Delhi too, so they will be confident of taking another win today.

This game should be a close one and Chennai are capable of taking victory in this game, but with their inconsistent batting performances this season I feel that they will be defeated in this game by the league leaders. Also, with their sub-par batting performances I am going to back the Daredevils to have the better of the opening batsmen exchanges too.

The Warriors come into this match having won just four of their 13 matches this season and they are without a win in six matches. They are just three points better off than the Deccan Chargers at the bottom of the table and they are the only side to have been beaten by the Chargers this season and they were defeated twice by the side from Deccan, giving them four of their five points this season. They collected six of their eight points in their first four matches this season and they’re in poor form. Can they upset the odds to defeat Bangalore?

Bangalore sit 5^th in the points table after collecting 13 points from six wins and one cancelled match. A win in this match today will see them leap the Mumbai Indians into third place in the table and they will have a fantastic opportunity at making the end of season playoffs. They are coming into form as they’ve won both of their last two matches after being beaten in both previous games, so can they make it three in a row today?

I think so as the Royal Challengers have been scoring well recently and the Warriors are in very poor form. My money is on a Bangalore win in this one.

The Royals come into their 13^th match of the season with a 50% win/loss record having won six and lost six of their 12 games so far. They also have ended a four game losing streak with victories over Kings XI Punjab and the Pune Warriors in their last game to move fifth in the table. A win today for Rajasthan will see them move up to third place and leave them in contention for a playoff place, especially as they have some relatively easy games coming up. They have won three of their five games at home this season and have only been beaten by sides above them in their last two games. Can they return to winning ways in front of their fans?

With Chennai having won just one of their last five games, and that a slender ten run victory over bottom side Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan will fancy their chances of victory. However, the Super Kings will feel aggrieved that they were beaten by the Mumbai Indians after Dwayne Smith scored 14 runs off the last three balls to win the match and they’ll be out to ensure that they do not slip up again in this match. They also won the meeting of these two sides almost three weeks ago, but that was a close game and Chennai won only on the last ball of the match. Can they repeat that feat today?

This game promises to be a close game, but due to their fine home form and the fact that they can get a good run on the playoffs with victory in this match I see a home win in this match. Also, the arrival of Shane Watson, who scored 90 in their last match, will assist them in taking the win in this match.

Atlético have had a fantastic run in the Europa League as they have won all of their last 11 games in this competition and they have not lost a match since they were defeated 2-0 away at Udinese in the group stage of the competition in October. They have been practically untroubled since then in this competition and they have had a fine end to the season as they have won five and drawn two of their last seven matches in all competitions. They will be full of confidence coming into this match, so will they be able to take their second Europa League title in three seasons?

Bilbao have caused plenty of upsets in this competition so far as they’ve upset the odds in the last three rounds with defeats of Manchester United, Schalke 04 and Sporting Lisbon, who eliminated Manchester City. They have played well in this competition, but have not been as convincing as their opponents in the final as they have failed to win four of their last 11 matches in this competition – the same timeframe that Atlético have won all of their matches. They also come into this match without a win, or even a goal, in their last three matches. Can they once again up their performance levels and upset the odds?

Head-to-head these sides have beaten each other once this time this season and the last ten meetings between the sides have seen five wins each. These sides have not drawn a match since 2005 and I see this pattern continuing in this match due to the poor recent form of Bilbao and the fine form of Atlético. With their fine form and the fact that Bilbao’s goals have dried up recently, my bets are that Atlético will strike first and go on to win this match and lift the trophy.

Liverpool to win the match – 2.05

Liverpool will be very disappointed about their performance in the FA Cup final last weekend and they’ll want to put that behind them and finish this season with victories. However, at home they are in poor form this season and they’ve won just one of their eight home Premier League matches in 2012. They have lost three of their last four matches and their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa is just their only home league point in almost the last two months. Their only win at home in 2012 came against their city rivals, Everton, so they have shown that they are up for big matches, so will the defeat at the weekend get them up for this match?

Chelsea are now 18 games into Roberto di Matteo’s reign at the club and they’ve picked up their first trophy of the season with their fine performance against Liverpool on Sunday. They still have the Champions League final to come too. They impressed at Wembley, especially as they bounced back from just their second defeat under the Italian as Newcastle took all three points at Stamford Bridge thanks to two wonderful goals from Papiss Cissé. Away from home they have won four and drawn three of their eight games under di Matteo and they’ve only lost to Man City in that time. Will they continue with another unbeaten game on the road tonight?

Chelsea still have much to play for in the Premier League as they can move to within striking distance of 4^th place in the league on the final day of the season with a win tonight. With them being full of confidence after beating Liverpool at the weekend and being in such fine form compared to Liverpool’s poor home form in 2012, I cannot see Liverpool winning this match. However, Andy Carroll was the big difference between these two sides at the weekend and after he came on after 55 minutes at Wembley a comfortable Chelsea win was no longer the case. While I see either a Chelsea win or a draw tonight, I do see Carroll finding the net against Chelsea for the second time in three days too.

Blackburn come into this match in poor form as they have lost six of their last seven matches in the Premier League and they’re six points away from safety at this point of the league. They need to win this match and their final game of the season against Chelsea and hope that QPR or Bolton do not win their last game of the season if they are to stand a chance of staying in the Premier League. They have only beaten Norwich since the final week of March, but only Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle have beaten them at Ewood Park in 2012. Is a great escape on the cards?

Wigan have been very impressive in recent weeks as they have taken 17 of their 37 points gained this season in their last nine matches. They have drawn with Norwich and West Brom, as well as beating Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Stoke. They were beaten away at Chelsea and Fulham, but they know that, due to their superior goal difference, if they take a point from this match then they will be safe in the Premier League for another season. Will Wigan be happy to settle for a point?

Wigan are unbeaten in their last two games against Blackburn and would happily take a point to secure their place in next season’s Premier League, however they have not collected a single point at Ewood Park in their last five visits. They drew 1-1 in 2006 and I feel that they may get something from this game too as they have scored in five of their last six meetings away at Blackburn. Victor Moses is a man in form at the moment and after scoring twice against Newcastle I can see him finding himself of the scoresheet here against a leaky Blackburn defence.
