Suns Looking For The Upset In Marquee NBA Matchup

Monday, December 17th, 2007

It might not be exactly what the doctor ordered, but a Phoenix Suns team that has not been playing well lately (0-4 ATS in their last four starts) gets a chance to bust out of this mini-slump against one of the best home teams in the league, the Spurs.

Phoenix is a 2-point dog in San Antonio tonight.

Check out all the NBA lines here.

Bettors Like Vikes

Monday, December 17th, 2007

According to the line (Vikings -10.5) and the betting action, this week’s Monday nighter is a big mismatch.

Tonight, the surging Minnesota Vikings host the floundering Chicago Bears. Bettors at SPORTSBETTING.COM are loading up on the home side, wagering on them at a 80% clip. The Vikings have strung together four impressive wins, covering the spread in each of those starts.

Over that same stretch the Bears are 1-3 ATS (the only cover being an improbable win at home vs. Denver - thank you Devon Hester).

The Over/Under line is set at 43, with fairly balanced action coming in from bettors on that number. When these two met in October they played a shootout, with Minny winning 34-31.

Shockey Gone For The Year

Monday, December 17th, 2007

The Giants lost the game and lost a key component to their offense. New York was upset by the Redskins at home on Sunday night (making it their third straight loss at Giants Stadium), 22-10. Early in the second half tight end Jeremy Shockey went down with a broken leg.

New York can still clinch a playoff spot, but they have to win next week at Buffalo or in their last game of the season, at home vs. the New England Patriots, who will almost assuredly be looking to wrap up a perfect season.

New York is currently listed at 15-1 to win the NFC Conference at SPORTSBETTING.COM

Cleveland Update

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Anyone looking at a play on the Browns game, the latest update, from local sports radio, is that the visability is very bad…and they stated expetations are that by the start of the second quarter passing will be very difficult.

The current line at SPORTSBETTING.COM is the Browns -5.5 over the Browns with a total of 37.5 (which has been dropping all week).

Who Will Have Most Passing Yards Today?

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Will Brett Favre, playing in a dome on Sunday, toss for more yards than Tom Brady up in snowy Foxboro? What about Drew Brees going against a beat up Cards secondary, or Tony Romo gunning vs. the Eagles defense?

One of the prop plays available at SPORTSBETTING.COM is the “Top QB” offering. This week Favre and Brady are the favorites (both 7-2 odds), followed by Brees (9-2), Warner (9-2) and Romo (7-1). Whoever throws for the most passing yards cashes the ticket.

Maybe Peyton Manning at 7-1 is worth a shot vs. the Raiders.

Patriots Drop To 21-Point Favorite

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

The winter weather is doing something no opponent has been able to pull off all season - it’s attracting serious money bet against the New England Patriots. All the talk of tough conditions in the Boston area has sports bettors jumping all over the huge underdog New York Jets, obviously feeling the snow/wind/sleet will make it difficult for the Pats to run away with the score.

As of Sunday morning the line has dropped from the Pats -24 down to 21. As we highlighted a couple of days ago, the Over/Under number is down 10 points, currently sitting at 41.

More Weather Info

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

This info regarding today’s games was taken from Accuweather:

While some snow will fall when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Jacksonville Jaguars, heavier snow will whiten the field in Cleveland as the Browns take on the Buffalo Bills. Cold winds will not only have an effect on the kicking and passing aspects of these two games, but will also create a chill in the air for the faithful fans braving the elements.

In Foxboro, Mass., the New England Patriots will attempt to maintain their perfect record against the New York Jets. The snow and ice that starts the day should changeover to some rain by kickoff. Strong winds blasting onshore will also whip through the stadium.

Cold winds will also howl during the night-game between the Redskins and Giants this evening. Players and fans should not be surprised to see a few flurries.

Weather A Factor On Sunday

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

The total on the Sunday nighter between the Redskins and Giants has dropped from 41 to 36 due to the weather conditions on the East Coast. Snow, sleet, wind and rain are all in the forecast.

The Skins need a win to stay alive in the playoff race, while a Giant victory can lock down the top Wild-Card spot.

Did You Know?

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

In taking a closer look at tonight’s NFL game, we note that the 49′ers are a dismal 1-7 against the spread in their last eight home games. On the other side, the Bengals have a mark of 5-1-1 against the spread the last seven times they have played a road game vs. a team from the NFC West division.

Clearing Room For Niedermayer

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

The Ducks traded All-Star center Andy McDonald to the Blues for aging center Doug Weight in a move designed to clear up cap space for the return of D-man Scott Niedermayer.

The Ducks have struggled this year, currently sitting at .500, after winning the Stanley Cup last spring.
