NFL Betting: Chris Johnson And The Titans’ Odds
It looks like 2009 NFL leading rusher and top offensive player of the year, running back (RB) Chris Johnson, will report to Tennessee Titans training camp after all.
According to a number of reports, Johnson and the Titans have come to terms on a renegotiated deal that will see the RB receive much more than the $550,000 base salary he was to earn this season — he was the lowest paid running back on the Tennessee roster.
The AP and NFL.com both report that Johnson will receive $2 million this season with the Titans converting performance incentives that were due in 2012 into part of his salary for the upcoming season.
The two outlets also report that Johnson will be paid $800,000 in 2011 and $960,000 in 2012.
As mentioned, Johnson led the AFC and the entire NFL in rushing with 2,006 rushing yards last season and thought that he was worth more than his then five-year, $12 million deal — the Titans said he wouldn’t be eligible for a hefty raise because of league rules.
However, the deal is not done yet with Johnson denying a deal and the Titans offering no comment — ESPN says that both sides are looking over the deal and it could be signed within the next two days.
Currently, Chris Johnson is listed at +5000 to be named the NFL’s MVP for the 2010 regular season and he is listed at +300 to repeat his feat as the league’s leading rusher.
The Tennessee Titans are listed at +1600 to take the AFC title and +2500 to win the Super Bowl.
