With the Phoenix Suns beckoning, the Los Angeles Lakers can book a spot in the Western Conference finals with a win over the Utah Jazz tonight.
Although up 3-0, Kobe Bryant and company will have to clinch the series on the road however and are 2.5-point road underdogs; the Total is set at 207.
The Lakers’ star says that his team would do well to get the West semifinal over with.
“You extend a series, ankles can get turned, muscles can get pulled, groins, things like that,” Bryant told the L.A. Times.
“When you have the ability to put the nail in the coffin, it’s imperative that you do it.”
While the jury’s out on the Lakers in their last 20 overall ATS games vs. the Jazz — the Lakers are merely 11-8-1 against the spread — they are extremely respectable at 15-5 straight up at the same time.
However, the Lakers have struggled in the role of underdog in their last nine when listed at +4 or less, going 1-8 SU and 3-6 ATS.
The Jazz, on the other hand, have thrived in their last 20 when favored by 4-points or less, going 15-5 SU and 14-5-1 ATS.
The Lakers eked out a win against Utah in Game 3 on Saturday, winning 111-110, covering as 4.5-point underdogs.
